Transylvania

I called this sculpture “Transylvania”. Inspired by the theme of vampires of Transylvania province. This province is a part of Romania. There are many fantastic stories about vampires. I used several symbols in this sculpture. The folded elbow is a cubit of life; the plaits bring to bind young women who became vampires and a nail. A vampire nail can kill an other vampire in popular tales about them.

This sculpture was carved from a walrus tusk. Height is 34 cm. 2001
